There’s a silence, an emptiness,
A loneliness that we repress;
Memories forgotten,
Days gone by,
But it hurts the same
Even if we don’t cry
When my heart is breaking
And my soul aches,
I long for the sweet arms of home;
But I’ve lost the way,
The light’s gone out from my eyes,
And I don’t know if I’ll survive
When the dust settles,
And the storm is o’er,
I see what death and darkness claim;
Oh I wish I could go back and not forget,
Be saved by the memory of your smile,
When it’s so hard to say goodbye
