Convent School Girl

  • PC

Daybreak on a Monday in August;
No one is excited for the first day of school;
No one wants to iron uniform early morning,
Just to hear Sister tell you it’s too short;
Iron tie, just to hear Sister tell you
That you need your pin,
Or you’re getting a demerit;
Hear all about your ankle socks,
And that your shoes must shine
‘Til you could see your face;
Then you must apologize to the grass
Because you hurt it when you walked

But you are excited to see familiar faces;
Tell tales of your long summer;
Make fun of each other;
See who got the latest gear;
And though no one says it,
We all missed Sister,
And can’t wait to see her,
And hear all about
The uniform, socks, shoes, and grass
