Freedom is not free
It is paid for in blood, sweat and tears
It is bought with a life
It is bartered for with a soul
It scars and mars warriors
Who battle on relentlessly
Freedom is not free
It is not unconditional
It must be won
And any freedom won, is incomplete
The strife is never o’re
The battle never done
Freedom is not free
It is not a fight for the faint of heart
Not for the thin-skinned
Not for the easily swayed
It is for the hardened and prepared
Freedom is not free
But why should it be?
